Yes, I know graphic novels are catering towards the male gaze and thus they have barely-dressed women and totally ripped men, but it was just so strange to see enormous perky breasts unsupported by the barest scrap of clothing bouncing all over the page. Grimm Fairy Tales presents Oz is not by any means an excellent comic, but it’s not a terrible one, either. Mar 26, Brushw rated it did not like it Shelves: Get to Know Us. Unfortunately, making the women of Oz “sexier” doesn’t necessarily enhance the shortcomings in the plot or the feeling that I got mid-way through this collected edition that the storyline was being stretched out from a couple of issues concept to six.

Thanks for telling us about the problem. Story-wise, I enjoy the action, but felt it didn’t do as much as it could with the Oz characters. Dorothy from Earth shows up in Oz, meets some traveling companions, and eventually defeats the wicked witches, freeing Oz from their tyranny.
And, brksha always, the villainesses are especially vile and wicked, which adds a bit of over-the-top zest to the enterprise.
Claiming that exploiting the female form is acceptable because DC and Marvel are also culprits is not only a childish brusga to view the issue, it is also an inappropriate moral equivalence.
