I don’t believe in eating mediocre food just because it will supposedly make you thinner. Most of the stuff she writes about are not new ideas, but the bethenyn in which she writes it makes me want to follow her rules.
All in, glad I read it. Unless, of course, they are on TV, in which case almost all we talk about is whether they are fat or ugly, too skinny or have bad hair. She also recommended VERY small portions which may work for someone as thin and busy as herself but would never work for me personally.
You can’t do it by starving or binging and purging. I would recommend it to anyone looking to change their ideas of eating and being healthy.
Even though it’s completely against the grain of her book to be judgement about her food choices A huge part of her advice is that only you can know what is satisfying for you. The paparazzi may not be stalking you to see what you eat, but your friends notice. In fact, the unnecessary repetition in general made me read parts of the book in a Charlie Brown teacher’s voice. I don’t blame my mother, my grandfather, or even my father, for my attitudes toward and my struggles with dieting, body image, and food.
Feel free to be creative and stray from ftankel, or replace some ingredients with others that you like better. I obsessed about food, and pushed it away, too. I like her ideas about eating, though I am not quite sure they are always do-able. We were teased by the skinny girls and laughed at by the jocks. These women shop blocks away from my apartment in stores I will likely never, frznkel enter. She’s hilarious, and has the best one quotable liners! One thing that annoyed me was how she mentions that she eats just a couple bites of one food, a bite or two of dessert, a nibble off a friends plate. Just not all your cake, everyday. It’s also about finally getting rid of all the extra weight you’ve been carrying around — the weight you don’t need. I don’t know if it can work for everyone but it can definitely give you a few things to think about if you are struggling with your eating habits.
