It was plain ol’ boring. So all in all, I showws a big fan of this book, but I feel like my opinion isn’t the best one to be taking because like I said, I’m totally clueless about the book it is based off of. The setting is uniquely its own, which really won me over.
In this aspect my expectations have not exactly been met, but apart from craving a little dose of satire I did not suffer any want. Should we do anything for love?

To me, there was no motivation behind it and was just added in as another point of conflict to the plot. The premises of For Darkness Shows the Stars is fascinating and I was hooked by this intriguing dystopian setting from the moment I began reading.
dxrkness She was logical, reasonable. This book is meltingly good. Which means seeing that her workers are fed. She fed the Reduced, she did her chores, she avoided her father and her sister, and she waited.

Ryan Calejo Release Date: Before we get to the reveal, here’s a message from Meredith: The idea itself was good, but some things weren’t developed at all see world building and that’s a big no for me. And some of the twists genuinely surprised me, particularly the ones having to do with illegal gene therapy; they tossed a huge wrench in Elliot and Kai’s relationship and really challenged Elliot’s attitude towards the Posts and what they’re trying to do.
And my ability to enjoy a book certainly depends on the characters and how they manage to move me, “‘What’s so funny? Download the PDF now. Like Elliot I’m an eighteen year old girl, and when thinking back to my fourteen year old self while in many ways I am now completely different, I can easily believe that someone that age could fall deeply in love. Too bad you do actually need more than that for a good book – I’ve read Persuasion and I’ve read good dystopians, and this is neither a good Persuasion adaptation nor a good dystopian.
Whereas, in this book Elliot is a young woman who had to refuse Kai. This novel stayed true to the Spirit of Austen, took a few well-intentioned liberties that may or may not have panned out, and managed to tell a good story, too. Cares for all who are dependent on the estate for survival.
So that aspect of the book was very interesting and creative. Times are getting tough. But like Ashley at Nose Graze said gor than me Kai is vocal about his anger from the get-go, turning Elliot into even more of the victim.
It felt Austen-like, but in a hsows modern, contemporary way. Their ancestors had led the remnants of humanity out of the caverns. Mar 05, Angie rated it really liked it Shelves: Ever heard of dignity or maybe self-respect? And most of all, I more-than-liked the brilliant ending.
But the complex morality debate she sets up takes up too much of the narrative.
With a deeper development of the supporting characters and the ethical issues surrounding enhancements, I reckon this book would have been amazing. The relationship between Elliot and Kai was darknesz Anne and Wentworth. Elliot North lives in a futuristic world where a genetic mutation from generations past has failed, leaving much of the population Reduced.

Messing with genes, robotics and medicines, humans became close to gods, but there was an unfortunate consequence: And enjoy it immensely with me even while we pick it apart Yes a few of the secondary characters were a bit “muhahaha” for me, but whatever.
I walked out of film class. Furthermore, when Kai and Elliot meet four years later, he does not hesitate to make his anger towards Elliot known, casting her more in the role of the victim opposed to the guilty perpetrator. But I just don’t believe in sticking with a story if it isn’t holding your interest.
Therefore I devoted this week’s Friday Nope to this awful clusterfuck of a novel. Elliot’s father isn’t kind to his staff of Reduced laborers, but he’s not abusive to them, either.
